Dear editor:
In the Dec. 4 issue of the Tribune there is a letter that is headed “President’s pardons send wrong message.” We beg to differ. While David Gentile’s sentence was commuted his conviction still stands. We really don’t know what Trump was thinking, but the way our justice system works right now, he must have seen something that needed to be corrected. We don’t necessarily agree with the decisions made by Trump on Gentile, or Hernandez or even Maxwell, though her move may not have been made by him, we will never know all the terms that were considered in these decisions.
Now, look at Joe Biden. He commuted the sentences of 37 murderers and rapists. They are now out on the street to repeat their crimes. As the Democrats have been demonstrating for years, they feel the criminals are more important than their victims. In the Democrats’ eyes the criminals are the victims.
While in office Biden gave over 4,000 commutations and pardons. Many were for minor crimes but those aren’t important. It’s the 37 murderers and rapists that are important. Biden also lost over 300,000 children while he was in office. Many are now dead or have been sold into sex slavery. Trump’s administration is diligently working to find and rescue those children.
Biden also gave preemptive pardons to people who had not been convicted of anything yet, though most of them worked very hard to destroy this country. Fauci is the first one to come to mind.
And, yes, Trump pardoned or commuted the sentences of most of the J6ers. Few were guilty of anything. None of them were given due process, which is a constitutional right. Murderers and rapists are treated better than the J6 men and women were.
Who would we prefer to have out on the street, the J6ers, of course. At least they still love this country and would defend it. Biden, his cronies and many of the people he/they have defended hate this country and want to destroy it. We hope you are not among those people.
Sincerely,
Linda and Bob Graff
