Two letters, two opposing views

Posted

Dear editor:

Recently there have been two letters that caught our attention with opposing views. One on April 16 called “Choose peace over war, hatred” then on April 21 there was one called “Government right not to ignore Iranian threat.”

The first letter tells us how wrong our president is for getting us into a war with Iran.  This is not a war we started.  The Iranians have been chanting “death to America” and threatening to wipe us out for at least 47 years. Think about how many Americans they have already killed or maimed in the name of Allah. Some in other countries but also many on our own soil. We’ve had promises from other presidents to deal with them to no avail. Trump wants to solve the problem once and for all before a nuclear bomb is a reality. Saying “don’t” (sound familiar?) just doesn’t get it.

Since enriched uranium can be used both for nuclear power and nuclear bombs depending on how highly it is enriched. The Iranians would not have to do it in secret if it was truly for power plant use. Obama’s “nuclear deal” which naively allowed them to police themselves was a dead giveaway as to how Obama felt about this country. And sending Iran $1.7 billion in 2016 supposedly over financial disputes says a lot about a man who thinks the “most beautiful sound in the world is the Hasan,” the Muslim morning call to prayer. We know so little about this two-term president. Why is his life such a secret?

The second letter expresses the reasons we should be going after Iran. The wording is perfect. We need to keep ourselves a sovereign nation while keeping and believing in our own Constitution and Bill of Rights.

The “woke” agenda embraced by our politicians allows them to disagree with Trump whether it is good for America or not. At one time they all agreed with many of the things Trump has said and done as our president. Now they hate him so fully they don’t care if the American people suffer because of their decisions, or nondecisions, as the case may be. In trying to hurt him they are only hurting us, the people they supposedly care about.

Choosing “peace over war and hatred” is a worthy ideal but hard to do when people are being paid to protest and destroy other people’s lives. The paid protestors can’t even tell reporters what they are protesting or why. All they know is “Hate Trump” no matter what. When one side only hears hate from the legacy media and our politicians it is hard not to hate someone or something. Harboring intense hatred toward anyone, and particularly unfounded hate, has to be a miserable life.

Perhaps the best cure for all the hatred is to start thinking for yourself and do some research  on your own. Both of those things seem to be lost arts to our young people and many not so young people.

Respectfully,

Linda and Bob Graff
