Dear editor:
The Shoshone Irrigation District (SID) annual meeting is expected to be held Feb. 18, 2025. This year there are two district commissioner seats open for election. In prior elections, it was stated by SID that one of the qualifications to become commissioner was that an individual must have $20,000 in agricultural sales. The current SID bylaws, amended March 15, 2022, that are posted on the SID website no longer have this requirement.
Since the $20,000 agricultural sales restriction is no longer in place, now is the time for individuals from these two districts to consider seeking election to the SID board. If you are interested, you should contact Mr. Trent Reed, SID general manager, to verify if you reside in one of these two districts and begin the qualification process so that you can begin canvasing your district to obtain the necessary votes to be elected.
The small farmers need elected commissioners to make sure our voice is heard! If you decide to run for commissioner, please write a letter to the editor and let everyone know if you need assistance in running your campaign. If you should have questions for me, I may be reached via email at 307robstevens@gmail.com.
