Dear editor:
Wouldn’t it be awesome if the folks who want to create a recreation center and the folks who want to create a senior citizens center would work together and create a “Multi Generational Center” in Powell? This center would benefit everyone under one roof? The center would have designated areas for both recreation and senior citizens events, kitchen, locker rooms, meeting rooms, etc.
It would be understood that the Multi Generational Center would need to meet the requirements of both organizations, building codes, zoning, etc.
Separately and currently, the recreational and senior center both would like to see “their” facility come to fruition, however, both are vying for funds, grants, contributions, etc and the interest of the residents of Powell. Is it possible to build a team consisting of members from both the recreation and senior citizens who would be interested in working together to establish ONE facility that would serve all?
Just think of the young residents teaching/showing the seniors and the senior residents teaching/showing the young how to work together, play together, grow together, etc.
Maybe this would be a great time that the dreams of both organizations could come true while working TOGETHER to benefit all the residents of Powell.
