Taylor Santos roped his way to a title at the 2021 PRCA Cody Stampede Rodeo.

A California native, Santos earned the all-around cowboy crown after strong performances in steer roping and tie-down roping. He won a $5,617 payout from his success in those events, which were held from July 2-4.

Caleb Bennett was the bareback riding champion, earning 91.5 points, just ahead of Clayton Biglow, who had 90. In saddle bronc riding, Mitch Pollock and Wade Sundell tied for the crown with 90 points, each winning $4,907. And Braden Richardson was the top bull rider, posting 93 points on Frontier Rodeo’s County Jail.

Tuf Cooper’s time of 8.3 seconds was the quickest in tie-down roping, winning $10,671 for last year’s all-around cowboy. Corey Ross roped his steer in 11.4 seconds for a first-place finish. And in team roping, Clay Tryan and Jake Long had a top time of four seconds for the win.

Jacob Talley was the top steer wrestler, completing the event in just 3.4 seconds. In barrel racing, Emily Miller-Beisel won the event in 17.03 seconds, just 0.02 ahead of second-place Hailey Kinsel.

While the Fourth of July concluded the annual Cody Stampede, rodeo action will continue in Cody for more than a month, with the Cody Nite Rodeo held nightly from 8-10 p.m.
