The Powell Piranhas jumped back in the pool for their winter swimming season, kicking off the competition in Lander at the Spook Splash on Nov. 1-3.
Leading the way in qualifications for the winter finals in February was 10-year-old Aubree Morton, as she qualified in every individual event in which she swam.
Her highest placement came in the 50 fly, finishing third with a time of 40.89 seconds, while placing in the top 10 for all eight events — including six top-six finishes.
All of Morton’s qualifying times in addition to the 50 fly came in the 50 back (44.34), 50 free (36.73), 100 breaststroke (1:46.21), 100 IM (1:33.24), 100 back (1:39.28), 100 free (1:18.2) and 50 breast (49.51).
The next athlete to garner a number of winter qualifications was 10-year-old Mary Rose, who earned qualifying times in four events.
Those four qualifying times came in the 50 free (37.14), 100 IM (1:40.47), 100 back (1:40.32) and the 100 free (1:27.07).
Rose finished in the top 10 in four of her seven events with her highest position being sixth.
The final swimmer to earn a winter qualifying mark was 13-year-old Lynea Christensen, who earned a single qualifying mark in the 50 free (30.54) while finishing in the top 10 in four out of her six events.
The final competitor for the Piranhas was 13-year-old Kooper Arends, who earned one top 10 finish in his first meet of the season.
The Piranhas next meet will be in Worland as their season continues throughout the winter months.
