Phyllis Dulane Wood (aka Doodles) 81, of Frannie and formally Cody, Wyoming, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Sept. 11, 2025. She was born on Nov. 19, 1943, in Sterling, Colorado, to Lloyd and Lorena Brown. Upon graduating as valedictorian of her class she earned a full ride scholarship to a science academy.
She married Howard Wood (Woody) on Sept. 11, 1961, hence new adventures awaited her. They moved to Cody in 1967, where she and Woody joined the team (staff) at Webster Chevrolet paint and body shop. Phyllis was well known for her automotive paint and body repair talent. After her husband’s death in 1992, she changed careers and went to work at Best Western Sunset Motel until retirement.
Phyllis enjoyed watching the stars, being in the mountains, rock hounding, loved Elvis, wind chimes, butterflies, lilacs, and annoying her grandkids, even though she loved them dearly.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Woody, her son, Howard (Sonny) Wood Jr., and daughter Loretta Faye Wood. Phyllis was also preceded in death by her brothers Lionel Brown (aka Pete), Lloyd Brown (aka Jr.), sisters Barbara Thompson (aka Boots), Beverly Balderson (aka Pug), and nephew Dondi Brown.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Gina (Earl) Edwards, Teresa Briggs, Patricia Irby, Debbie Beard, Pam (Brian) Peterson, Mike (Carisa) Wood, Pat (Sara) Wood, brother Roger Brown, several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at the VFW in Cody, on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, from 11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m.
