Dear editor:
Social media often gets a reputation for being divisive, but it doesn’t have to be that way. That’s why I hope you appreciate the positive approach taken by the Park County Neighbors and Wyoming Neighbors Facebook pages.
These pages provide a place where neighbors can stay informed, learn about issues affecting our communities, and engage in respectful conversations.
Rather than encouraging personal attacks or negativity, they emphasize civility, respect and thoughtful discussion. People are welcome to share ideas, ask questions, and express differing viewpoints while remembering that we are all neighbors first.
The pages also highlight the importance of strong communities, individual liberties, principled leadership and local decision-making. They encourage people to become involved in their communities, and support one another.
At a time when so much online content seems designed to divide us, it is refreshing to see local Facebook pages that strive to bring people together through respectful dialogue and community involvement. Whether people agree on every issue or not, we all benefit when conversations remain civil and focused on finding solutions.
I encourage others to visit the Park County Neighbors and Wyoming Neighbors Facebook pages, participate respectfully, and help continue building the kind of community we all want to call home.
