The Powell High School volleyball team got back on the court Tuesday night, hosting Red Lodge in an interstate matchup.
The Panthers (14-8) started slow, as the visiting Rams (5-9) built an early lead and held off a mid-set rally before pulling away for a 25-18 first set win.
After the loss, the Panthers rebounded for a comfortable lead early in the second, before holding off a late rally by the visitors to take a 25-21 win.
In a repeat of the second set the Panthers built an early lead, and this time didn’t allow any sort of rally as they won the third set 25-15.
Red Lodge didn’t allow the Panthers to pull off the four-set win, rallying in the middle of the fourth to earn a late victory 25-22.
Keeping with the two prior set victories, the Panthers got off to a strong start, up as much as 9-2 in the fifth, before holding off another rally from the Rams and taking the final set 15-10.
That victory was the third straight for the Panthers, as they carry that momentum into a rivalry matchup on Saturday.
Powell makes the trip to Cody on Saturday, taking on the Fillies (13-6) who swept Riverton on Tuesday night.
