After a quick pit stop in Montana on Tuesday night, the Powell Panther volleyball team came up short against Red Lodge, falling via a 3-0 sweep.
The Panthers (8-5) came up just short in the first two sets, falling 25-20 and 25-23 before falling in the third set 25-17 in the only matchup of the two teams this season.
Powell now heads on the road to southern Wyoming this weekend, taking part in the Sandy Jebens Invitational in Rawlins.
Games on Friday begin at noon with a rolling schedule in a best of three setting, with every 3A team in the state in attendance.
Powell’s first game is scheduled for the second set of matches, starting with a game against Torrington (4-3 overall, 1-0 3A East), followed by a match against Buffalo (3-8) and finally a west opponent in Mountain View (6-8).
The top two teams from the group will advance to the gold bracket on Saturday and the bottom two teams will drop to the silver bracket.
Powell turns around quickly next week, opening up with conference action on the road at Worland on Tuesday evening.
The Panthers will host their home opener next week on Thursday against Rocky Mountain.
