Murder, the ultimate act of cancel culture

Dear editor:

According to Phil Anthony’s assertion, in his letter in the Sept. 23 Tribune, Charlie Kirk has been “canonized” when, in fact, he is just the victim of the continuation of cancel culture by the left. When murder becomes the final answer to someone’s problems everyone is at risk.

The notable fact is that there were no riots, looting or burning after Charlie Kirk’s death says a lot about the people who followed him and the one’s who became followers after his death. What all those nonrioters noticed though is that the legacy (read liberal) media celebrated Charlie’s death.

Everyone who has a voice will say something controversial sooner or later. That includes all those who have a voice in the media whether it is the newspaper,  television, radio or gatherings of followers and potential followers. The left will deny it but they are the reason Charlie Kirk has become a martyr.

As a martyr, Charlie now has a bigger voice than ever. His videos are being aired everywhere, controversial or not. He is reaching a bigger audience because he was murdered needlessly by a liberal lunatic.

The true hypocrites are the people in our government who swear an oath to take care of their constituents and then put them in jail for little or no reason, destroying many lives in the process. However, they want to protect thieves, murderers, rapists and child molesters, keeping them on the street to repeat those crimes again and again.

If a friend or family member of yours was molested, raped or murdered would you want the perpetrator to continue to wander the streets looking for their next victim? Do you want the criminals to get a “badge of honor” for becoming the “victim” in the crime they committed having faced virtually no consequence?

Charlie was the victim but he is being treated like the perpetrator. He did not bring on his own demise, but we certainly know who did. The cult of cancel culture needs to go away. Freedom of speech needs to be supported by all of us even if we don’t like what we hear. After all, we have the freedom to not listen which is a freedom of speech too!
