Max Laforest Ruby, of Cody, Wyoming, passed away at the age of 96.
Max was born on Dec. 30, 1929, in Gillette, Wyoming, to Hazel Margaret Groves and Jesse Donald Ruby. He was one of five children and the second youngest among his siblings. He later made his home in Cody, where he built a life rooted in hard work, family, and the Wyoming land he loved.
Max proudly served his country during the Korean War as a Military Police officer and was present at the signing of the peace treaty. He was honorably discharged on July 1, 1953, carrying with him a deep sense of duty and pride in his service.
Following his time in the military, Max spent many years drilling water wells, contributing to the growth and sustainability of his community. He also owned and operated Eagle Valley Guest Ranch outside of Cody for a time, a place that reflected his connection to the land and western way of life.
He had a passion for collecting antiques and rock hunting, always drawn to pieces of history and the quiet beauty of the natural world. Those who knew him will remember his steady presence, his work ethic, and the life he built for his family.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Jesse Ruby, and his siblings, Dola, Dale, Wyoma and Ceola.
He is survived by his children: Frosty (Jessie) Ruby, Clint (Sue) Ruby, Alicia (Doug) Wright, Melody (Grant) Christensen, and Nicole (Jeremy) Burr. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: John (Tonya) Ruby; Keith Ruby; Kyle (Sam) Ruby; Christine (Adam) Koch; Chelsie (Sam) Simons; Orrin Christensen; Olivia (Tyler) Elkins; Matt (Cheyanne) Ramsey; Courtney Ramsey; as well as many great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy.
