Loyce Cossitt, of Powell, Wyoming, passed away May 18, 2026. She was born Jan. 19, 1931 in Olny, Illinois.

Two years later her mom and brother traveled by train, then by horse and wagon to Broadus, Montana, where they resided until she went to college in Jamestown, North Dakota. After college she taught at many small schools in Montana. She met Jim Cossitt (the love of her life) at a country dance on St. Patrick’s Day in Ashland, Montana (her favorite color was green). Jim and Loyce were married in 1952.

After she married Jim she continued to teach school in southeast Montana and Powder River County. She later was a cook for the Broadus school system. She also drove school bus and carried the mail. She was a proud member of the Eastern Star. She was also involved in the Rainbow Girls and also the Red Hat Society. She became county librarian until she retired.

Loyce was the mother of four children and also took care of her parents Tom and Isabel Williams. Her loving husband Jim passed March 10, 2005 at the age of 75. Loyce remained in Broadus until 2008. She then moved in with her son Frank and his wife Darla. She stayed there for approximately a year until she moved into her new home at the Powell Valley Care Center. She enjoyed many things while there, including Wednesday bingo with her daughter Katie and granddaughter Jamie. She often spoke of the amazing staff and residents she met while living there.

She is survived by her four children, Vern (Laura) of Casper, Wyoming; Frank (late wife Darla) of Powell, Wyoming; Katie (late husband Lyle Nalivka) of Butte, Montana; and Dan (Chris) of Gillette, Wyoming; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother Isabel and father Tom Williams, brother Thomas Williams, daughter-in-law Darla (Frank), daughter-in-law Marty (Dan), great-grandson Brandon (Jamie and Leo), and son-in-law Lyle (Katie).

She will be greatly missed by many, may she rest easy.
