Kathryn “Kathy” Zoe Good, 74, of Cody, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Aug. 25, 2025. Kathy was born on Jan. 26, 1951, in Powell, Wyoming, to Bill and Joyce Lynn.
As a girl, Kathy learned to play the piano and excelled in school. She was helpful to her mother around the house and was always neat and clean. Though she didn’t love sharing her bedroom with her sister, who was 8 years younger, the two eventually became best friends.
After graduating from Powell High School, Kathy married Steig Whitney. They welcomed a son, Jared, in 1975. They later adopted a son, Jesse, in 1981. When this marriage ended in divorce, Kathy’s love for her family remained constant. She took charge of her life and education with a determination to provide for her boys. Kathy later reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Jerry Good. The two were married in 1988, bringing another son, Sean Good, into her life.
Kathy returned to school to earn a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. During this time, she discovered her passion for learning, both as a student and as a teacher. She began teaching in 1990. After a year of teaching remedial reading, Kathy moved into her own classroom, where she taught third grade at Sunset Elementary. She eventually transferred to Eastside Elementary, where she continued teaching third grade until her retirement. Students often remarked, “She must be named Mrs. Good because she is a good teacher.”
Kathy loved the outdoors with Jerry and their boys. She enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, playing games and doing puzzles. After retiring, she developed a strong interest in genealogy. She also cherished time with her grandchildren, always remembering their birthdays and spoiling them with gifts and treats at every opportunity.
Kathy is survived by her sons, Sean Good, Jared Whitney and Jesse (Lacy) Good; 10 grandchildren; her mother, Joyce Lynn; brothers Ron, Paul and Mark Lynn; sister Libby Hjorth; and many beloved nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Good, and her father, Bill Lynn.
A funeral service will be held to honor her on Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1719 Wyoming Avenue, Cody, WY.
