Joseph (Joe) Pine Silva was born in San Jose, California, and passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on Aug. 19, 2025.
Joe spent many years in Montana working as a building contractor before following his true calling in law enforcement. He proudly served as a police officer in Columbia Falls, Montana, until an injury led him into early retirement.
Throughout his life, Joe faced numerous medical challenges, yet he never lost his positive outlook. His quick wit, sense of humor, and love for storytelling brought laughter and comfort to all who knew him. He always had a joke to share, one that was usually pretty memorable.
Joe was preceded in death by his daughter, Joy Atkinson; his son, Joseph Silva; his sister, Eleanor Belshaw; and his great-grandson, Ryan. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Judy Silva; daughters, Pam Forman and Sheri Donfried; son-in-law, Chet Atkinson; and grandchildren, Bailey Atkinson, Kayla Hall, Justin Forman, Jared Forman, Jake Forman, Jason Hollis and Kristine Hollis. He was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren who brought him great joy.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Thompson Funeral Home in Powell, Wyoming. His wife was presented with his burial flag for recognition of his time in the U.S. Army.
