It’s our season to retire from Marquis Awards

Dear Big Horn Basin friends:

To everything there is a season … and after 41 years, it is now our “season” to retire. You know you’ve come full circle when the bright-eyed high school youth of our earliest years in business are now parents to their own bright-eyed high school youth, and we’ve done letter jackets and engraved names on a multitude of awards for both the parents and now their children. If we waited much longer, we’d be doing the grandchildren’s awards as well and that would be … well, crazy! We anticipate many of our services will continue to be available in the area but are not sure yet how that is all going to look. There is definitely a market and need for these services in the Big Horn Basin!

John and I want to thank all of you for your friendship and patronage over the years! It has truly been a pleasure and honor to work with each of you and we cannot imagine having operated this business anywhere else.

Our story has inextricably become intertwined with Powell’s story over the years and we’ve truly enjoyed helping celebrate Powell’s many memorable victories; being named an All America City; completion of the downtown beautification project; the launching of the much loved Country Christmas celebration (now Christmas Fest) by Diane Bonner; and the fire department’s parades for the many PHS state school awards in sports and scholastics, to name a few.

We have grieved with the community as well when tragic things happened and were impressed by, and proud of, how this community always stepped up in a big way to help neighbors at these difficult times.

It has been entertaining to hand out candy to all of your imaginatively costumed kiddos for Powell-o-Ween and I can only guess how many gallons of tortellini soup we’ve served up for Sample the Seasons these past 20-plus years.

Along with the very best customers in Wyoming, these are just some of the things we’ll miss as business owners — those fun community gatherings and catching up with people we don’t get to see that often.

Kind regards.

Terry and John Collins
