As a pastor, I hear many questions and statements that make me pause and reflect. What do you think about this? Where do you stand on that?
When do you think this will happen? I must admit most of them leave me with the response, “I will get back to you on that.”
However, there is one question I always have an answer to: How do I become a Christian? I always have an answer because it’s as simple as ABC — the ABCs of salvation.
A is to Admit that I am a sinner. We are all born into sin. Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden, and since then, all humans have been separated from God by our sins. We must admit that we are a sinner and need to be saved from that sin. Romans 3:23 says, “… for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
B is to Believe. Believe that Jesus came to earth to die for our sins.
He lived a perfect life without sin because he was entirely God and entirely man; therefore, he could die for our sins. Believe that he died on the cross, was buried in the grave, and rose from death as the payment for our sins.
John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
Romans 5:8 also tells us, “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
C is to Confess. Confess Jesus as lord. Call on Jesus and ask him to save you and forgive you. Ask him to be the lord of your life. Romans 10:9 says, “… because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
If you have never admitted, believed and called on Jesus to forgive you and be your savior, you can, and it is as simple as ABC. If you want to talk more about salvation, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me at pastor@victorypowell.org or 307-754-3990.
