October happenings at the library

The Powell Library will be a part of this year's downtown trick or treat festivities on Friday, Oct. 30, so make sure and have the Powell Library be one of the places you stop for some trick or treat fun.         

Families bring the little ones to the Powell Library on Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. as we celebrate Winnie the Pooh’s 100th birthday. Join our Youth Services Librarian Margaret for a fun filled celebration.    

The Powell Library will be presenting an evening program on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. to learn “How to Harvest and Save Seeds.”

Join us Thursday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. for a fun class on quilling and learn how to make a card to take home. 

Family History Friday is back, sign up for a slot for Friday, Oct. 9.

Join certified yoga instructor on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. for Chair Yoga for Seniors.   

Come to the Powell Library on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. as Josh Pomerory does a presentation on “Winter Tree Health.”

Join us for all ages craft on Friday, Oct. 9 from 1-3 p.m. to make Halloween Painted Spoons. Then join us on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. to decorate your own pumpkin. Join us on Friday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. for a Pumpkin Launcher STEM activity.      

Join us for Adult Craft Night on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. to make golf ball bees.     

Tuesday Afternoon Book Discussion meets on Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. where we will be discussing "Heartbreak Hotel." The evening book discussion will be meet on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. to discuss "Something Wicked this Way Comes." 

Powell Library is offering Tech Tuesday; sign up for a one-on-one session with Park County Library IT who can help you with your device problems. Tech Tuesday will be on Oct. 20, signups required.   

For ages 10 and up join us on Friday, Oct. 16 from 1-3 p.m. to make a Painted Ghost Portrait.  

Teens join us for a crafternoon on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 1-3 p.m. to make Macramé Skeletons.  

Lego Club will be on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m.; bring the whole family for a fun afternoon of Legos. 

Homeschool Hour is back, join us on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m.

Bring the kids to the library for Toddler Time every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Join us for Family Storytime on Saturday, Oct. 10. K-fifth grade join us on Friday, Oct. 23 from 1-3 p.m. to make a stick/yarn spider web. Don’t forget to visit the Storywalk at Homesteader Park. 

All Park County libraries will be closed Monday, Oct. 12 in observance of Columbus Day.
