Moving to Powell from Oregon for her senior year Addi Holcomb fit into the Powell Panther volleyball team with ease, earning her All-State honors in her lone season as a Panther.
Stepping into the Panthers lineup, Holcomb finished with 187 kills on a hitting percentage of .220, adding in 149 digs and 42 total blocks as an outside hitter for the Panthers.
“I am very grateful to be recognized with this honor considering there were so many great athletes on my team and in the state,” Holcomb said. “I wouldn’t have been able to achieve this without my team and coaches.”
Holcomb said the level of competition in Wyoming was comparable to Oregon.
“The level of play here compared to Oregon is actually very similar,” Holcomb said. “I feel like a lot of people might think Oregon would be more competitive because there’s a much larger population to pull athletes from, but I know that teams here could compete with Oregon teams any day.”
Making the move to Wyoming was easy for Holcomb, who said the team was welcoming and helped them have great chemistry once the season started.
“I am so thankful for how welcoming all the girls were when I first got here. It made it so much easier to adjust to being new,” Holcomb said. “By the time the season started it was like I had known them forever and it helped us have great team chemistry.”
One of the key strengths for Holcomb was her serving, as she recorded 44 aces and was always one of the top choices for the Panthers throughout the season.
“When it comes to serving, it has taken lots of practice over all the years I have played volleyball,” Holcomb said. “It has required confidence in my abilities and trust in my coaches for the spots they tell me to serve.”
She said she was lucky enough to spend her senior year in Powell, and she is thankful for the Panther team and the supportive community.
ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
Alongside Holcomb earning postseason honors were fellow seniors Alexa Richardson and Saige Kidd.
Richardson served as the libero for the Panther defense the past three seasons, being named to the All-Conference team for a second straight year.
She finished with 207 digs and added 21 aces from her defensive position, also adding three kills as a libero.
Kidd served as a middle blocker for the Panthers, finishing with 150 kills, 91 total blocks, 48 of them solo, and 15 aces.
“I am very happy to be recognized alongside Saige and Lex,” Holcomb said. “They are both very hardworking and always striving to do their best. They are great teammates and always there to help lift others up. I’m thankful to have had them as teammates and now friends.”
