First year Powell Panther volleyball coach Anna Flitner was recognized for her accomplishments this past season, as she was named the 3A West Coach of the Year.

“I feel very honored to have been given this award, especially as a first year coach,” Flitner said.

She was hired as the Panther coach in the spring, and helped lead the Panthers to the 3A semifinals at the state tournament, a runner-up finish at the 3A West Regional tournament and a 29-8-1 record overall.

“Honestly the award is very much a team award. I was so blessed to have a wonderful group of girls to start my first year and my coaching staff is phenomenal,” Flitner said. “I’m lucky to have them as coaches and friends.”

She said the first year was a success but she is looking forward to next season already as she is preparing for the fall 2025 edition of the Panthers.

“I had a wonderful first year and I’m already looking forward to next year and the things that we can build on,” Flitner said. “I’m also grateful to the other coaches in the conference and all their willingness to collaborate and do what is best for the girls/athletes.”

Flitner and the Panthers will be looking forward to the next season, as they will need to replace six seniors departing from this year’s team but will return some key rotational pieces.
