Edna Josephine Tomerlin Cobb Cooke, 99, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and source of unwavering strength, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family.
Born in Arkansas and raised in Oregon, Edna married her first love, Charlie Cobb, in 1943. Together they raised two daughters and built a life rooted in faith, family and resilience — from Oregon to a homestead in Heart Mountain, Wyoming. Edna’s life was marked by courage, resourcefulness and devotion. She helped farm the land, sewed dresses from flour sacks, and helped establish the First Southern Baptist Church in Powell.
After caring for Charlie through his illness until his passing, Edna later married her high school sweetheart, Hal Cooke, and cherished their years together until his death.
She was a woman of quiet routines, deep love and constant presence — always just a phone call away. In her final years, she was lovingly cared for by her daughter Helen and son-in-law Ronald.
Preceded in death by husbands Charlie Cobb and Harlan Cooke, daughter Barbara Lowry, and son-in-law Dick Lowry, Edna is survived by her 101-year-old sister Pearl; daughter Edna Helen Carter (Ronald); grandchildren Rick Lowry, Rochelle Lowry LeRoy (Dennis), Aaron Carter (Megan), Ronda Elias (Franky), Ryan Lowry and Susan Lowry; and great-grandchildren Kyle Church, Caleb Lowry, Kaitlyn Church, Bentley Carter, Teagan Carter and Tali Elias.
Edna’s legacy of grace, strength, and steadfast love lives on in the many lives she touched.
Graveside service will be held on July 2, 2025 at Crown Hill Cemetery starting at 10 a.m.
