Denis Michael Brothers, of Dodge City, Kansas, lived life with a spirit as big as the open skies he loved. Born on May 22, 1947, Denis embraced every adventure that came his way — from long days fishing on the lake, to horseback riding through wide open trails, camping under the stars, and gathering with friends and family for good food and laughter. He was happiest outdoors, surrounded by nature, a cold drink in hand and a story ready to be told.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, Denis cared fiercely for the people in his life. His heart was forever changed after the loss of his beloved wife Lynda Hensley of 50 years, and their son, Jason. Though he carried that heartbreak with him, he continued to love deeply — especially his family, and his loyal dogs who were always by his side.
Denis worked hard all his life and continued working for the joy of it right up until his passing. He was the kind of man who made friends everywhere he went. With a magnetic personality, quick wit and legendary storytelling, Denis could fill a room with laughter and warmth. He touched countless lives with his fun-loving ways and generous spirit.
He is survived by his sister, Greta Clark; designated brother, John Brown; children, Ben and Jamie Brothers; and his cherished grandchildren, Jacob, Skylor and Easton Brothers. While his departure leaves a deep ache in the hearts of those who love him, we take comfort in knowing his soul is at peace, reunited once again with his wife and son.
Denis will be dearly missed, fondly remembered and forever loved.
May he rest easy on the eternal lake shores he dreamed of. Where the fish are always biting and the stories never end.
Love you Dad!
