Della Mae (Harmon) (Roney) Smith

Della Mae Smith passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, at Powell Valley Care Center; she was 83 years old.

Della was born in Billings, Montana on March 15, 1942 to Henry (Hank) and Lydia (Foos) Harmon who farmed the Huntley project. In 1955 her family moved to Powell, Wyoming to continue farming until Hank opened a pool hall and card room in 1963 and later Hank’s Café in 1965.

She married Roger L. Roney on Feb. 17, 1961, in Billings Montana, where they had four boys and later divorced in 1968.

Della moved to Idaho, Alaska and Washington before returning to Powell in 1977 and took over Hank’s Café from her father in 1979, where she did business till 1984.

She moved to California where she met Robert K. Smith, who she later married in 1990. They later returned to Powell.

After Robert’s passing, she moved to Billings and eventually moved back to Powell, where she lived the remainder of her life.

She is survived by her sons: Roger Leslie Roney Jr. of North Bonneville, Washington, Henry T. (Amber Wyckoff) Roney of Carson, Washington, Micheal W. (Lisa Edwards) Roney of Johnston, Iowa and Darryl J. Roney of Shepherd, Montana; three brothers: Leo W. Harmon of Harding, Montana, Donald D. (Sharon) Harmon of Chehalis, Washington, Ronald L. Harmon of Roseburg, Oregon, and one sister Bonnie (Chris) Jensen of Powell, Wyoming; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with numerous nieces and nephews. Della was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers: Robert E. Harmon, Gerald Harmon and Harold Harmon, and sister: Shirley A. Roth.

Celebration of Life will be observed on July 1, 2026, at Deaver Reservoir at 1 p.m.
