December happenings at the library

It is hard to believe it is December already. While this time of year can be stressful for everyone, the Park County libraries have provided a lot of great resources and activities to make this time of year stress free.

Park County Libraries will be offering another fun Beanstack Reading Challenge — just log in to Beanstack, or if you’re new to Beanstack sign up via the Park County Library website, and join in the fun of reading challenges. The Park County Library is pleased to announce the launch of the new Outreach Van, which took part in the Christmas parade. The Outreach Van will be out and about bringing the library to all of the Park County community. For more information or to request the van for a public event, go to our website at parkcountylibrary.org.

There will be a special story time visitor to the Powell Library. Join us on Tuesday, Dec. 6 and Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 10:30 a.m. and meet Chase from Paw Patrol. 

Sign up for our Tuesday Book Discussion and join us on Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. where we will be discussing “The Sanatorium.” 

Remember every first Thursday of the month come to the Powell Library for Adult Trivia Night, join us for a fun and challenging evening.  

Park County Library is pleased to offer a Wyoming Library to Business Station at the Powell Library, to help local business owners and entrepreneurs. Please join us on Wednesday Dec. 7 at noon for this month’s webinar on “Building a Marketing Plan.”   

A Writer’s Roundtable will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m., led by Jen Dare of Northwest College. This program is for anyone interested in creative writing. 

Join us for Adult Craft Night on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. where we will be making holiday wreaths. Please sign up at the circulation desk.  

Powell Library has lots of fun filled activities for children. Join Ms. Renee every Monday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. for Baby and Toddler Time and every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. for Story Time. Kids sign up to celebrate Christmas with a fun craft on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 3:30 p.m. Join us on Wednesday, Dec. 28 from 10:30-11:15 a.m. for family fun with Legos. Kids in grades K to five sign up for a fun New Year celebration on Friday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. Join us for crafts, games and s’mores.          

Stop by on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and every Thursday from 1-3 p.m. for the Powell Library Friends Book Sale. Stop by and take home as many books as you can and support the Powell Library.  

Please remember all Park County libraries will be closed Friday, Dec. 23  through Monday, Dec. 26 in honor of the Christmas holiday. The libraries will also close at noon on Saturday, Dec. 31.

Do you want to help support the library and help create a new Powell Library? Then please consider joining the Park County Library Foundation. We are looking for Powell representation and would love to have the Powell community well represented. The Foundation only meets a few times a year and can even meet in the Powell Library. If interested in learning more and want to join, contact Karen Horner, 307-527-1881 and help strengthen the library.
