Another weekend out on the track brought similar results for the Powell Middle School girls’ track and field teams, as both the seventh and eighth grade groups posted a number of first place finishes at the Spartan Invite in Riverton.
Leading the way for the eighth grade squad once again was Lucy Ostermiller, who earned three individual first place finishes, winning the 100 meter dash in 13.72 seconds, the 200 meters in 28.4 seconds and the long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 6 inches.
Anyston Keller earned a pair of first place finishes in the distance races, winning the 800 meters in 2:40.9 and the 1600 meters in 5:49.08.

The Cubs also had three relay wins, as the quartet of Ann Trinh, Keylyn Knuth, Addie Gillett and Ostermiller won in 55.56 seconds, the 4x200 relay team of Darby McKee, Brooklyn Kyniston, Bentley Streeter and Landyn Horsley won in 2:12.21, and the 4x400 relay team of Christensen, Kara Sanders, Keller and George won in 4:41.6.

There were no team scores kept at the Spartan Invite.
The Cubs will head out on the road for two meets this week, including a meet at Laurel today (Thursday) before heading to Shoshoni on Saturday.
“As we get ready for the upcoming meets, we are doing a bit of shifting with our lineup,” coach Amanda Haney said. “With a few athletes out, we are moving some team members into different events — both to fill spots and to see where they might be a strong fit moving forward.”
Those will be the final meets before a small break from competition over Easter, before the Cubs host their own invitational at Powell High School on Saturday, April 26.
