The Powell Middle School girls’ track and field teams earned another team win in Lovell, as the seventh grade girls won by 71.5 points and the eighth grade girls won by 57.5 — with several school records falling over the past couple of meets.

Maci MaGill led the way for the seventh grade girls’ team, getting all three of the wins that the Cubs recorded in Lovell.

She swept the sprinting events, winning the 100 meter dash in 13.51 seconds, the 200 meters in 28.13 seconds and the 400 meters in 1 minute, 4.79 seconds.

In addition to MaGill the Cubs recorded a number of top five placements, including Autumn Kleinfeldt who took second in the 100 meters (13.82), 200 meters (28.77) and pole vault clearing 7 feet, 6 inches; Aubree Kraft took second in the 800 meters (2:32.76) and 1600 meters (5:42.81); Finley Franklin placed second in the 200 meter hurdles (33.97), fourth in the high jump (4-0) and tied for fourth in the pole vault (6-6); Teagan Gillett was second in the triple jump (29-4 1/2); Charlee Muecke took second in the shot put (24-5 1/2) and discus (64-4); Ryleigh Hutzenbieler took third in the 400 meters (1:06.9) and fifth in the high jump (3-10); Callie Foos was third in the 800 meters (2:57.23); Kimber Allan was third in the triple jump (29-4 1/4); Beth Black was fourth in the 800 meters (2:58.15) and fifth in the 1600 meters (6:37.41); MaGill took fourth in the triple jump (28-7 1/2) and Tabbetha Turner was fourth in the shot put (23-9).

Three school records were broken or matched for the seventh graders, as Kraft set new marks in the 1600 meters and 800 meters while Kleinfeldt tied the school record in the pole vault.

“The girls’ distance runners, their consistent spirit elevates the entire team,” coach Amanda Haney said. “Week after week, these girls have demonstrated their dedication and talent. Their success is not simply about speed; it’s a testament to their strategic racing, mental toughness and commitment. Their ability to push each other in workouts translates directly to their strong performances on race day. It is what helps them break records and/or earn a personal record week after week.”

As a team the Cubs earned 187.5 points, finishing with a comfortable win over second place Cody by 71.5 points.

The eighth grade girls had an equally strong day in Lovell, winning more events than the seventh grade team.

Lucy Ostermiller won the 100 meter dash (13.48), 200 meters (28.04) and 200 meter hurdles (31); Lynea Christensen won the 400 meters (1:03.52); Anyston Keller won the 1600 meters (5:42.39) and Keylyn Knuth won the high jump (4-10). The Cubs also took the top spot in a relay, winning the 4x400 with a time of 4:47.56. That team consisted of Christensen, Brooklyn Kyniston, Keller and Kara Sanders.

Powell also earned a number of top five finishes, as Addie Gillett finished second in the 400 meters (1:05.72); Sanders took second in the 800 meters (2:41.41) and third in the 400 meters (1:06) and triple jump (30-6 1/2); Ostermiller was second in the long jump (14-6 1/2); Keller was third in the 800 meters (2:46.14); Christensen tied for third in the high jump (4-2) and took fourth in the 800 meters (2:47.11); Kaytlee George took fourth in the 200 meters (29.13) and the 400 meters (1:06.86); Breiyah Bonander took fourth in the shot put (24-7 1/2); Ivy Lennon was fourth in the discus (66-8); Knuth was fifth in the 200 meters (29.31) and Meredyth Giltner placed fifth in the shot put (24-2 1/2).

Haney said that Ostermiller’s previous long jump performance in the Powell home meet on April 26 proved to be a record breaker, when she leaped 15-5.

The eighth graders finished with 167.5 points, winning by 57.5 over second placed Lovell.

The Cubs head to Worland for the Yellowstone Conference meet on Saturday.

“Looking ahead to the conference meet, the girls aim to carry their season’s momentum by focusing on the same principles that have brought them success,” Haney said. “The coaching staff emphasizes the importance of maintaining their mental focus, trusting their training and continuing to support one another. The strong team dynamic and the confidence built through consistent achievement will be crucial as they face tough competition.”

After the conference meet, athletes who have qualified for the Best of the Best meet will head to Lander on Tuesday for that competition.
