The Wyoming Cowboys recorded eight threes in the second half on their way to a 92-82 win over Cal State Fullerton on Saturday evening in the Arena-Auditorium in Laramie. Wyoming ended the game with 12 threes and recorded a season-high 19 assists moving to 2-0 on the young season.
“Winning is hard,” UW head coach Sundance Wicks said. “So many good things that we did tonight and tip of the cap to Fullerton, as they came ready to play. We have to keep proving we will be a hard team to play against. They got us in transition, and their pace had us on our heels in the first half. But we won the possession game by 10 and that’s winning basketball.”
Wyoming was led by Nasir “Naz” Meyer with 18 points with five rebounds and four assists. He also knocked down a trio of three pointers. Damarion Dennis added 16 points for a career-high. Khaden Bennett added 14 points for back-to-back games in double-figures along with Meyer and Dennis.
The Titans held the Pokes scoreless for the first two and a half minutes taking a 5-0 lead. The Cowboys would tie the contest at 7-7 thanks to four points from Dennis. The Pokes made four-straight shots and built a 14-9 lead with under 14 minutes left in the first half.

Matija Belic added a triple and a pair of free throws from Meyer made it a five-point game right after the Fullerton run. Meyer later made it a 36-30 game with a triple off a nice dish from Dennis. An alley-oop slam from Gavin Gores extended the lead to eight with under three minutes left in the opening stanza.
Wyoming went scoreless for nearly three minutes, as an 8-0 run by the Titans made it a 38-38 game at the half.
A 3-pointer from Bennett early in the first half would give the Pokes a four-point lead, but the Titans tied the contest at 45-45 with 17 minutes remaining. The Titans would leverage the free throw line and take a 55-53 lead with under 14 minutes left.
