Dear editor:

Over the past few months there have been several public expressions of support for the construction of the new Powell Senior Citizen Center. Some are born out of frustration with the pace at which we are moving forward and some because we have not communicated enough with you. We regret both!

So first, let us tell you that we are continuing to move forward, and we are very pleased with the support we have received from the City of Powell in the planning stages of our project. Secondly, there will be a time, in the near future, when the PSCC board will not only welcome greater community support and action, but we will be soliciting it. We are here to serve an important 40% of our population, and your input and help will push the project over the finish line.

Over the past several months, you have seen and heard of publicly funded projects that seem to have higher priority than the senior center. While this may be a source of frustration, we must not let frustration and disappointment become discouragement! Those projects have been funded by a variety of ways, and have intrinsic value of their own. We have been assured that PSCC is high on the priority list. Our county, cities and municipalities have all been sensitive to local needs and we believe we will get the funds needed.

The PSCC board wants to thank all who express their support for our project! We know it has been a stop-and-go effort but we are on track.
