Betty Jane Kersting passed away on the morning of Jan. 14, 2026. She was born on Feb. 28, 1932 in Billings, Montana to parents Louis and Monica (Zentner) Hutzenbiler. Betty was to be the oldest of eight children.
Betty met and married Harold “Tiny” Kersting in Powell, Wyoming where they would live for the remainder of their lives — building their home and raising their family in Garland. They celebrated 75 wedding anniversaries. She was very interested in genealogy and served as president of the Powell Genealogy Group for several years. Betty worked in medical records at the Powell Hospital for 20 years.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Harold and siblings Robert, Rosa and Leroy. She is survived by her son H. Glenn Kersting, daughter Wanda Michaels and her children Arlen Michaels (son Shane) and Lenna Hopkins (daughter Porsche and son Quentin), daughter Diana (Fran) Scranton and their children daughter Amelinda (Kevin) Olson and daughter Rani Scranton (son Henry), foster daughter Darlene Miner and her children Mary Peters and Matt, Shawn and Duane Miner and siblings Floyd, Carol, Richard and Marie.
The family wishes to thank Powell Long Term Care Center for their kind and compassionate care of our mother and grandmother. At her request no services will be held.
