Barbara Lee Werbelow, 89, passed away peacefully on Sept. 9, 2026, at New Horizon Care Center in Lovell, Wyoming. She was born Aug. 10, 1937, in Powell, Nebraska, to Harry and Harriet Jacobs. Barbara was one of seven children and grew up in Powell, Nebraska, before moving to Wyoming.
Barbara married the love of her life, Clarence L. Werbelow, on Nov. 3, 1957. Together they raised four children: Steven, Pamla, Rodney, and Kelly.
After moving to California, Barbara became a member of a local Lutheran congregation. Upon returning to Powell in 2002, she became a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and enjoyed being part of the quilting group.
Barbara loved cooking, growing flowers, feeding the birds in her yard, playing cards, and listening to the Texas Tenors. She was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the Golden State Warriors and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs. Most of all, Barbara loved her family and especially cherished the time she spent with her 10 grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren whenever they could come to visit.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence; her son, Steven; her parents, Harry and Harriet Jacobs; and her siblings, Kermit, Jewell, Gwendolyn, Donna Belle, and Larry.
She is survived by her children, Pamla Tsutsui (Wes) of Morgan Hill, California; Rodney Werbelow (Julie) of Powell, Wyoming; Kelly Utic (Richard) of Bend, Oregon; and her sister, Patricia Jones of Powell, Wyoming.
Funeral services for Barbara L. Werbelow will be held Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, with burial to follow at Emblem Cemetery.
