Dear editor:
In my recent letter regarding Backpack Blessings and thanking the community for the donations provided, I made a mistake. I wrote that it costs $40 per week per elementary student. I should have written “up to $40 per month per student.”
Backpack Blessings provide enough food to cover breakfast, lunch, dinner, a snack and drink per school weekend for the Park County School District 1 elementary students. Our board members, who do the buying, shop constantly for the best prices while keeping nutrition in mind.
Again, the program has been able to continue providing these meals since 2011 with only the monies provided by the community. The board is so grateful to be the stewards of the donation they are entrusted with.
Sincerely,
Marybeth Richardson
