Local athletes both at the collegiate and high school level will converge on Casper this weekend to take part in a number of events, starting with the Shrine Bowl on Saturday.
Athletes competing at that event were named in February, including Trevon Abraham, Doug Bettger and Keona Wisniewski.
Activities and practices for the Shrine Bowl have been ongoing this week both at Natrona County High School and Kelly Walsh High School, with the culmination of those events ending with the 52nd annual game at NCHS on Saturday afternoon.
Powell also has one coach in attendance as assistant coach Waleryan Wisniewski will help the North team throughout the week.
Northwest College will also have one competitor in Casper at the College National Finals Rodeo starting Sunday, as Christopher Staley will perform in bull riding for a second straight year.
Two former Powell Panthers will also compete in the CNFR for different collegiate programs, as Kyle Cheney will compete in bull riding for Dodge City Community College for a second straight year while Caden Gines will compete as a header in team roping for Central Wyoming College.
Performances throughout the week will determine who will compete in the championship round of the CNFR at the Ford Wyoming Center on Saturday, June 21.
