Dear editor:
I believe it best not to write one letter to the editor after another but this letter is timely and the issues need to be addressed. I will call it American Irony. Here are two current examples.
Irony one: As we read in the paper, one of our 69-year-old community members was arrested, spent three days in jail, and will pay a fine for smoking marijuana. Marijuana is legal for medical purposes in 41 states and 24 for adult recreation. Here is the irony. I know the law is the law. That is unless you happen to be the head of our federal government. It seems evident that our president has made large amounts of money on stocks bought before the war, relating to the war, and growing from the war. That is a form of inside trading or market manipulating and must be illegal, amoral, and at the least unethical.
Yes, I know they are saying it is his family who is running his businesses and they had no idea. Give me a break. Do they think we are all stupid? Just something to think about while you are filling up your truck or car.
Irony two: We have a pro-life group working hard to infringe on the constitutional rights of the women of our state. Where are their letters and billboards that express a demand to know and prosecute the perpetrating pedophiles identified in the Epstein files? Hundreds of young girls who are actually alive deserve to get justice while they try to put back the lives that were taken away from them. I know it is a lot safer to take away the rights of a girl in trouble than take on a raft of lawyers paid to protect a group of privileged wealthy and political pedophiles. I was taught to think of us as the land of the brave but maybe that is the ultimate irony.
