If you need a new windshield, wait until the fall to replace it.
That’s the message from Wyoming Department of Transportation District Engineer Pete Hallsten, who spoke to the Park County commissioners, other public officials and the public Tuesday during WYDOT’s annual State Transportation Improvement Program meeting for Park County.
The reason for the warning? It’s construction season and, especially around the Big Horn Basin, right now its chip sealing season.
“Its not a good time to buy a new windshield, I would wait until the fall,” he said. “We do our best to minimize the impacts on the public, but you know, when you put chips on the road and people drive too fast, you break windshields.”
While a lot of work has been done recently in Big Horn County, Hallsten said to expect contract work to begin soon on stretches of U.S. Highway 14A as well as on the North and South forks.
“We are doing a lot of chip sealing around the district,” he said.
