What if your summer could change a life — yours and someone else’s? The Wyoming Afterschool Alliance (WYAA) invites undergraduate students to embark on a journey of mentorship, creativity and leadership through the Summer STEM Fellowship.
The Fellowship, open to all college students in Wyoming, equips participants with the tools to inspire young people while developing their own professional skills and networks. Youth-serving summer programs that host fellows benefit from enhanced STEM programming that is fueled by the fellows’ training, network and access to resources to implement activities.
“Our goal is to create pathways for both fellows and the youth they mentor,” said WYAA Director Michelle Sullivan. “When Fellows bring hands-on learning to life in rural communities, they’re not just teaching — they’re building a community where everyone can thrive.”
The Summer STEM Fellowship runs from April through August and features training led by Wyoming-based organizations like Wyoming IDeA Networks for Biomedical Research Excellent and the Innovation Wyrkshop, as well as national leaders such as Partnerships in Education and Resilience.
“This program helps college students see themselves as leaders and role models,” said Emily Vercoe, WYAA Special Programs Associate. “Past fellows have shared how this experience unlocked new confidence and direction — helping them envision the impact they could have in their community and beyond.”
Applications are open now at wyafterschoolalliance.org/summer-fellows. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, April 1.
