Every veteran buried at the cemetery south of Powell was honored Saturday with a word of thanks and a wreath laid on their grave
Dozens were on hand at Crown Hill Cemetery for the annual Wreaths Across America wreath laying. Organizer Ruth Ross said this year businesses, the American Legion families and others in the community donated enough to purchase a wreath for every veteran in the cemetery.
“We have a lot of very generous people here,” said Ross, president of the local American Legion Auxiliary chapter.
The wreath laying — volunteers laid wreaths on 701 graves — came after a ceremony at the legion wall of honor, where attendees placed wreaths up against the wall to honor each branch of the armed service.
It was all a part of National Wreaths Across America Day, which included ceremonies around the country at more than 5,200 locations in all 50 states.
