University Women will present an informative program Thursday, Oct. 2 at 5 p.m. at the Yellowstone Conference Center at Northwest College on exploding stars in the universe. The speaker is Deepthi Amarasuriya, assistant professor of physics at Northwest College.
Her talk will include the star T coronas Borealls, which is expected to go nova within the next few months.
A recurrent nova is a star that periodically flares up and becomes bright enough to see without a telescope because of powerful energy bursts in its outer layers.
University Women will have a business meeting at 4:30 p.m.
