The Park County Travel Council is apologizing for an error in the FY 2023 Annual Report that has caused confusion amongst some of the people who recently received the FY 2024 Annual Report in their mailboxes.
In the FY 2023 report, delivered to county residents through the mail last fall, the designer of the report incorrectly used the FY 2023 collection numbers instead of the FY 2022 collection numbers, according to a travel council statement. Prior year collections always fund the next fiscal year donations.
According to the statement, the error was brought to the attention of the council Monday, soon after people began receiving cards in the mail for the FY 2024 Annual Report, which accurately shows the FY 2023 collection of $3,038,000.39.
That funding (and reserves) was used to pay out $395,677 in grants, $1,979,793.87 in unified marketing, $408,729.45 in administration and $589,168.61 in destination development funds.
“Ultimately, the FY23 Annual Report error was a proofreading error, and we want to apologize to the public for this oversight,” the council said via email.
In the FY 2023 Annual Report, the FY 2022 collections were actually higher than the year after, totaling $3,416,928.58 with Cody collecting more than $1.65 million and Yellowstone National Park $1.116 million. Powell collected $60,825.53 for FY 2022, slightly more than the $59,191.95 collected in FY 2023.
