The Northwest College volleyball team won its first match at the Region IX Tournament against McCook Community College 3-1 in Casper on Wednesday.
Northwest (14-14) started slow, losing the first set 25-17 before narrowly winning the second set 26-24 over the Indians (16-16).
The Trappers carried that momentum into the third set, pulling away for a 25-18 win before dominating the final set from the start in a 25-14 win.
“We did awesome,” coach Nicole Buck said.
Northwest advanced to take on the winner of the south No. 1 seed Northeastern Junior College (25-6) and the north No. 4 seed Central Wyoming (6-18) at 4:30 p.m. today (Thursday).
That result was determined after the press deadline.
