Sudie Marie Thormahlen was called to her Savior, surrounded by her beloved husband, son, and sister.

Sudie Knutson was born July 14, 1958, to Bud and Elnor Knutson in Miles City, Montana. She grew up in Helena, Montana, where she was involved in drama and a friend to so many people. Sudie graduated from Capital High School in 1976 and worked at the Ben Franklin store in Helena before moving to Billings.

After high school, Sudie worked in Billings at a Montessori preschool and Saint John’s Nursing Home.

While in Billings she met the love of her life, Elden Thormahlen, on a blind date. They were married March 8, 1980, and resided in Billings. From this union they had two sons, Jeremy and Joshua. The family later moved to Powell, Wyoming, which became their forever home.

While in Powell, Sudie impacted every person she met. She worked for the school district for 24 years. During this time, Sudie impacted staff and students through her passion for life and learning. She embodied empathy, compassion, and patience. She loved whole-heartedly and was forever humble in her generosity towards others. Her biggest gifts included sharing her passion for writing and poetry club to inspire students in their thoughtful expression. She gave endlessly and touched so many lives by inspiring them to always reach their potential in life. She greeted everyone with a beautiful smile, dazzling brooch, colorful hair, and a twinkle in her eye that would instantly brighten your day. Sudie was a gift of grace, full of goodness, and a true light to so many.

Sudie was preceded in death by her son Jeremy and her parents. She is survived by her beloved husband, Elden; son Joshua (Kylee) and their children Colter, MaKailia, Katie, Haden and Hudson; daughter-in-law Laura Thormahlen; granddaughter Isabelle Melina; and younger sister Rose Berg.
