Lillian Irene Ravndal Cline, aged 105 years, passed on Tuesday morning, June 25, 2024, following a bout of pneumonia and a fall that fractured her pelvis.

Lil, as she was known by everybody, was born on May 18, 1919, in Juanita, North Dakota to Norwegian immigrants Arne and Jorina (Lura) Ravndal. She attended the local one-room school, then boarded in Cooperstown, North Dakota for high school. She attended business college in Fargo, and went on to work as a secretary in Billings, Great Falls and San Francisco.

In 1948 her future husband Charles (Bud) Cline came to San Francisco and “rescued her” (her words) from the big city.

She married Bud in Billings in 1948, and moved to Emblem to be a farm wife and mother (yes, she drove tractors and herded cows, as well as children). They were active members of Zion Lutheran Church in Emblem. They were married for 62 years.

The couple moved to Powell in 1981 upon retirement from the farm. They became members of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She volunteered at the hospital gift shop and at the nursing home hair salon for several years.

Lil was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bud, in 2009, and by her son, Brian (wife Susan) of Orlando, Florida, in 2022.

She is survived by nephew Roy Cline (wife Caryl) of Cody, who was raised by the couple as a son; daughter Bonnie Cline of Las Vegas; and son James Cline of San Francisco.

She had seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to give special acknowledgment and honor to grandson Gabriel James Ravndal, for dedicating 15 years of his life to being Lil's caregiver, guardian, nutritionist and best friend. We know his loving care is responsible for adding years to Lil's life.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 2, 10 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Powell. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
