After a three year hiatus, the Yellowstone Summer Music Camp hosted by the Northwest College Music Department returns this summer.
“We are excited to see the return of our Yellowstone Summer Music Camp this June,” NWC Vocal Music Instructor Eric Hagmann said.
People have until Monday, May 15 to register for the 2023 Yellowstone Summer Music Camp hosted by the Northwest College Music Department. The camp is scheduled to run from Sunday, June 18-Friday, June 23, and both overnight and commuter options are available.
Special interest classes in the morning and afternoon include master classes in all instruments, jazz bands, jazz choirs, music technology, drum circle, chess, frisbee golf, boom whackers, fun and fitness, and many others.
“The Yellowstone Summer Music Camp provides an amazing opportunity for students to build a passion for music and expand upon their previous music experiences,” camp coordinator and NWC Assistant Professor of Music Zach Paris said. “The camp provides a fun environment for exploring music to secondary grade students of various experience levels, and allows students to find new areas of interest in the vast world of music. It is also a great opportunity for students to study with and be inspired by a terrific faculty team, as well as build relationships with talented young musicians from around the country that share the same love for music.”
Students are supervised in the residence halls from Sunday afternoon through the end of the camp on Friday afternoon by a team of counselors. Evenings are filled with a variety of music recitals and recreational activities. Band students must have completed at least one year of middle school/junior high band. The cost for overnight campers is $590 and includes room and board for the week, the cost for a commuter is $390, and scholarships are also available. A $200 deposit is required by May 22, with checks payable to NWC Music Camp. For more information, and to register, visit northwestmusic.org.
