The Park County Shooting Complex Joint Powers Board is closing in on bringing in a CEO for the complex.
The hiring committee has narrowed in on four applicants among the 40-50 received, although there is a chance the short list could grow as the posting is still open and applications are still being received, board Chair Glenn Ross said.
“It’s good to know there’s so much interest initially,” board member Brian Mick said.
The weeding down to the finalists was done with short interviews, Ross said, while with the finalists there will be longer, more extended interviews. He said they’re working to schedule dates now for those interviews.
He said the committee is trying to ensure the best person for the position is selected, while also trying to hire a person relatively quickly, now that so much work is happening and so many decisions are being made — at the same Nov. 13 meeting board members approved pursuing a contract with Groathouse Construction for design services and moving forward on work suggested by Engineering Associates to prepare the ground for development.
“I kind of have always been on the mind, quicker is better on this, so I’m still there on that,” Ross said, adding “We need the right person, that’s imperative, but also, there’s enough activity in this project we need to continue moving forward with the selection. So we’re trying to balance that.”
Board position opening
The City of Cody is also beginning work to find a new board member after one of the members the city appointed, Jim Saubier, resigned, as he told the board, due to other commitments.
“We appreciate Jim’s serious work to get us where we need to be,” Mick said. “On behalf of the board, I thank Jim for his service.”
Board member Danny Michaels has taken over Saubier’s role as head of the design committee, a role Saubier had spent many hours at outside of twice-monthly board meetings.
