This winter’s windy weather has caused a lot of accumulation of trash in the Garland Canal. With the permission from the Shoshone Irrigation District and cooperation with the City of Powell, a group is asking people to come together and clean up the canal running through town.
Anyone interested can meet at Homesteader Park on Saturday at 9 a.m. to clean the canal from Road 8 to Road 10. Help is needed in and on the banks of the canal, so those willing to walk in the canal should bring gloves and irrigation boots. Garbage bags will be provided.
“It’s our country’s 250-year birthday so why not celebrate by keeping our small part of it as beautiful as possible,” the organizers say. “Together we can eliminate the eyesore and protect the downstream riparian areas.”
