Cody police reported Wednesday afternoon that they were negotiating with “an armed, barricaded suspect.”
Police said the incident began with a report that a woman was trespassing at a home in the 700 block of Meadow Lane Avenue, which is just east of the clubhouse at Olive Glenn Golf Club.
In an interview around 4:30 p.m., Cody Police Lt. Juston Wead said negotiations were continuing with the woman.
“[We’re] just gonna give it time and try to talk our way out of it,” Wead said earlier.
Police had issued a statement at 1:20 p.m. asking community members to avoid the area; they also personally asked the surrounding neighbors to stay inside and shelter in place.
Wead said early Wednesday afternoon that the woman was the only person in the residence. Additionally, he said no one had been injured, nor had any shots been fired.
“That’s why we’re just going to give it plenty of time, to let it resolve,” Wead said.
