Park County Republican Party Chairman Martin Kimmet is inviting everyone to the annual Freedom Celebration, 1 p.m. July 3, at the State of Wyoming Veterans Memorial Park in Cody to celebrate 248 years of our nation’s independence.
The event will be preceded by classic country music from the “Crazy Mountain Lonesome” band, playing live from noon-1 p.m.
The program opens with two vintage T-34’s tipping their wings, saluting the nation’s unsung heroes — farmers and the rest of the agriculture community, who feed the nation. The Posting of Colors will be by the FFA, and taps will be played by Bob Berry and Kaylea Short. The Pledge of Allegiance will be led by Larry French. The national anthem will be sung by Presley Bray, and the invocation and benediction will be given by Streams of Life Church Pastor Ron Kingston. Placing of the wreath will be by Britt DeBore, Heart Mountain farmer and Marine Corps veteran.
Kimmet will be master of ceremonies and all three members of Wyoming’s U.S. Congressional delegation and all five top state elected officials will be in attendance and each will briefly address the audience. The guest speaker will be retired U.S. Marine Corps Col. Brent Bien, who was also Gov. Mark Gordon’s main opponent in the 2022 Republican Primary.
This is a free event, open to all, and there will be complimentary water and seating.
