CODY — Park County Animal Shelter (PCAS) is extending its Clear the Shelter campaign through September, after having to close its cat hallway in early August “out of an abundance of caution” due to recent findings of feline parvo virus.
“Our mission is first and foremost to provide the best care for our whiskered friends,” the shelter posted at the time. “This includes taking any measure to quickly stop the spread of diseases and keep our kitties healthy.”
Now, with the cat hallway reopening and kennels still at capacity, PCAS is doubling down on its mission, according to the release: to save lives, make space, and celebrate the bond between people and pets. Clear the Shelter Month will now continue through Sept. 30, with expanded adoption specials and community engagement opportunities for all animals.
Adoption specials extended:
• Pay-What-You-Can Adoptions for all animals
• BOGO Besties for kittens and cats
• Fee-Waived Adoptions for working cats and long-stay pets
• Sponsored Fees for eligible animals
• Foster-to-Adopt Options for those not ready to commit
“Setbacks don’t stop us — they strengthen us,” said Kaitlyn Quick, manager at Park County Animal Shelter. “Extending Clear the Shelter Month is our way of saying thank you to the community and giving every animal the time and visibility they deserve.”
Throughout September, PCAS will spotlight stories of resilience, host pop-up adoption events and invite the public to help reach a shared goal: no more homeless pets in Park County.
