CODY — Park County Animal Shelter (PCAS) has joined thousands of shelters nationwide for Clear the Shelter Month, a lifesaving campaign that invites families to make space, save lives, and celebrate the incredible bond between people and pets.
With 75 kittens welcomed in June and kennels at capacity, PCAS is responding with compassion and creativity. Throughout August, the shelter will offer pay-what-you-can adoptions, BOGO besties for kittens and cats, fee-waived adoptions for working cats and long-stay pets, and sponsored fees for eligible animals.
Week 1: Kicking Off with Kindness
August began with a heartfelt invitation to help make room for incoming animals. Every adoption, foster placement, and social media share helps open the door to a second chance. Wyoming’s warmth is contagious — and this month, it’s saving lives.
Week 2: DOGust Birthday Bash
PCAS celebrated the universal birthday for shelter dogs: DOGust! With confetti, treats, and tail wags, every dog is offered at a pay-what-you-can fee. The shelter welcomes adopters to give these birthday pups the best gift of all — a family.
Week 3: Kittens, Cats & Kisses
With kitten season in full swing, Week 3 features an irresistible BOGO offer: adopt one kitten or cat, and bring home a second for free. Foster placements are also encouraged — because temporary homes make a permanent impact.
Week 4: Honoring Homeless Animals
Aug. 17 is National Homeless Animals Day, and PCAS is marking the occasion by recommitting to its mission: no more homeless pets. Expanded adoption specials and a community-wide pledge will spotlight the dignity and love every animal deserves.
Week 5: Thank You, Cody!
As the month winds down, PCAS celebrates the community that showed up in full force — with open hearts, open homes, and open arms.
“Every paw deserves a path home. Clear the Shelter Month isn’t just a campaign — it’s a movement powered by kindness, courage, and community,” said Joelyn Kelly, board president.
