Some fun under the sun was the order of the day in Clark on Saturday, as Edelweiss River House held its second annual vendor show and its first car show.
Besides booths offering a variety of art, as well as craft items and assorted merchandise, live entertainment was provided on the Edelweiss stage. Taking individual turns singing and playing guitar were Cody residents Kevin Henry and Aubrey Slakey.
Among vehicle attractions were three displayed by members of Clark’s Bunn Family. Shannon was with her late dad’s 1931 Model A coupe, which he didn’t get around to restoring; a beefy 2011 Mustang owned by Travis, and Gary’s 2019 plum crazy-colored Challenger. Also noted by many was Clark resident Amy Swanson’s customized 2025 Harley Street Glide cycle with hot pink emblem plus pin striping and seat stitching to highlight the all-white machine.
There also were many admirers of the cream yellow 1979 Peterbilt Model 359 tractor brought by Powell residents Dean and Debbie Whalen. A former trucking firm owner, he noted that the rig has 384,000 original miles on it and that the customizing, including a bevy of red tail lights, seems to make it attractive at all the shows they attend.
Two others in the show that attracted many viewers included two restored autos. One was a 1936 Plymouth business coupe in its original color of Palm Beach Gray No. 2. It’s owned by Cody resident Dave Wildman. He was accompanied by his friend Mike Boone, also of Cody. He brought his 1968 striking red 1968 Chevy pickup truck.
“We are planning to improve next year’s gathering,” said Alicia Martin, Edelweiss manager. “With lots of time to plan and reorganize, we’re sure that it will be great.”
