The quick month-long fall season has come to a close for the Northwest College rodeo team, as the Trappers scored points in one of the final two rodeos.
In a trip to the University of Montana-Western in Dillon, the Trappers were unable to score any points for the men or women on Sept. 25-26.
This past weekend, the Trappers made the trip to Dickinson State University in North Dakota, a newcomer to the Big Sky Region, for a rodeo on Friday and Saturday.
Rilee Fisher was the lone Trapper to score again, as he tied for fourth in the average for the tie down roping, earning the Trappers 60 total points.
“That’ll boost him up as we try and get him into the college finals,” coach Del Nose said.
After the first month of the season Fisher sits in a tie for seventh in the region standings with 150 points.
Two more Trappers are still in the standings for team roping, as the header/heeler duo of Chance Marshall and Ty Grant are eighth with 115 points.
As a team the Trapper men sit in sixth with 380 points as Montana State University has run away at the top of the standings with 4,210 points, while the Trapper women have yet to register a point this season.
“We’ve still got faith in the kids and we’re gonna keep on rocking,” Nose said.
Heading into the winter break, Nose said the athletes are taking this week to focus on school and that they’ll get back to practice next week should the weather stay nice enough.
Rodeos will resume in April with the Trappers taking a trip to Bozeman to compete at MSU for the first action of the spring.
